Vision Pro UK Release Date, Apple Intelligence, And More
WWDC is always an action-packed event, and this year certainly didn’t fail to deliver. While there unfortunately wasn’t any new hardware unveiled, Apple did reveal the software and AI updates that we anticipated. Plus, they announced that the Vision Pro will finally be available outside of the US.

Vision Pro and visionOS 2
The Vision Pro will be available in eight new countries, with its official UK release date on 12th July. You will be able to pre-order from Apple direct from the 28th June.
Alongside Vision Pro, Apple revealed the first big update to its operating system: visionOS 2. It features a number of key upgrades, like:
- A redesigned Photos app with SharePlay support
- Machine learning capabilities that enable users to turn 2D photos into spatial images
- Brand new hand gestures
- A bigger ultra-wide version of Mac Virtual Display
- The ability to support a physical mouse
Other software updates
iPadOS finally got the much-awaited calculator app as well as a redesigned system-wide tab bar. Its Notes App has been equipped with Smart Script capabilities for automatically improving handwriting when using the Apple Pencil. What’s more, it benefits from a customisable home screen, improved control centre, and redesigned Photos app – which iOS 18 also shares.
Other significant Apple software updates include:
- iOS 18 now has the ability to lock an app, schedule messages, and use satellite connectivity to send and receive messages.
- watchOS 11 has new health and workout features like a “training load” for tracking intensity and Vitals app for a snapshot of daily health.
- macOS 15 Sequoia has iPhone Mirroring so users can control their iPhone from elsewhere while it stays locked, as well as a new Passport app and major Safari update.
Apple Intelligence
The biggest announcement at WWDC 2024 was Apple Intelligence, which will be integrated into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. Leveraging Apple silicon, it will be able to understand and create images and language, allow action across apps, and use personal context to make tasks easier.
CEO Tim Cook has said it will have the ability to access information in a fully private and secure way. Using Private Cloud Compute, it aims to become a new standard for privacy in AI. In addition, Apple will integrate ChatGPT into its AI experiences. This means users can access it without swapping tools.
