As 2015 retires into history we look back as some of the highlights from last year and take a look into the future to see what Apple products we will be treated to in 2016.
The latter half of 2015 was good for enterprise users with the introduction of the new 21.5” iMac and the 4K Retina 21.5” iMac. A refreshed 27” iMac also proved to be incredibly popular with our customers.
The iPad Pro was perhaps the most exciting enterprise product to be launched last year but supply shortages in the fantastic Apple Pencil and Smart keyboard have prevented early adaptors getting the full benefit of the new product.
At the end of last year we blogged about the prospect of a new Mac Pro and changes to the MacBook Air range. It has been two years since the Mac Pro hit the shelves and there is still plenty of evidence to suggest that Apple will refresh this line in 2016. As for the MacBooks the whole range feels a little messy. You have the MacBook, MacBook Air, 13 and 15” MacBook Pros. With the introduction of the iPad Pro we feel that this year will see Apple tidy this section up and provide clear distinctions between the various models once again.
Popular opinion is suggesting that as the iPad Air didn’t get refreshed last year that it is a guaranteed update as early as March of this year. It would be great if the Apple Pencil, 3D touch Display and the Smart Keyboard could all make it onto this model but regrettably there is no evidence that any of these will make it onto the mainstream iPad.
A product that we would really welcome is a 5K Thunderbolt 3 display. It seems to have been an age since we recommended the Apple Thunderbolt Display as it is simply outdated and pricey compared to better offerings from Samsung, LG and alike. However, having an Apple display that compliments the rest of the Mac range would be fantastic.
As for those general Apple products expect new iPhones, without a headphone jack, but with a multifunctional lightening connection. Apple Watch 2 is strongly rumoured to be in an advance stage and expect more Beats radio stations. Oh and expect to see many web articles about the Apple Car but we doubt whether we will hear or see anything concrete from Apple this year.
All that remains is for us to wish you all the very best for 2016!
