From Cash-Flow Crisis To Training With Advanced Tech: Coventry United LFC Story

Tech, including iPads, boosts Coventry United LFC’s revival, aids managers, and improves their chances of success.

Our clients never stop inspiring us. They’ve done so many things over the last couple of years to react to, and manage, change. Football clubs weren’t safe from the impact either, and at the start of this year, Coventry United LFC almost went into liquidation.

Thankfully, they were saved at the eleventh hour – by none other than Lewis Taylor, CEO and Founder of Energy Angels, who we’ve been supporting for some time. Read on to discover how Lewis is bringing Coventry United LFC back from the brink, the role technology is playing in their future success, and what you can do to support the club.

A Christmas crisis

A few days before Christmas 2021, it was announced that Coventry United LFC would unfortunately be going into voluntary liquidation. This was particularly gutting as they were mid-way through their first season as a fully professional club.

However, Lewis – who is local to the area and already sponsors Wolves Women FC through Energy Angels – wasn’t prepared to let this happen. On New Year’s Day, he held virtual meetings with the manager, Jay Bradford, and the players. A few days later, eight minutes before the contracts were due to be terminated, an agreement was reached.

Not only did Lewis save the day, he also has incredibly ambitious plans for the future. At present, the team plays in the FA Women’s Championship, the second tier – but he wants to get them into the first: the Women’s Super League. Whilst finances have been a difficult area for football clubs, Lewis believes he can turn things around.

Tech for training

Soon after he took over Coventry United LFC, the players were back on the pitch, winning matches against Crystal Palace and Blackburn Rovers. Yet Lewis hasn’t done this alone – technology has played a key role.

The managers needed access to the appropriate devices as soon as possible. So once again, Lewis turned to Lease Loop. We wasted no time in sourcing a number of 11” iPad Pros along with Magic Keyboard Covers and Apple Pencils. What’s more, because they’re leasing, we helped them to take care of their cash flow – a crucial factor considering their near-liquidation experience only a few months ago.

To turn things around so quickly and increase the club’s chances of success hasn’t been easy, but with the right technology, it’s looking to be a bright future for Coventry United LFC.

Support the team

We can’t wait to see the club go from strength to strength, and watch Lewis’ dreams for them come true. Lease Loop will definitely be cheering them on, and we hope you will too!

If you’d like to support the team, they’re currently on the lookout for sponsors and suppliers for things such as kit, nutrition, and food etc. In terms of sponsorships, this can be anything from a bigger deal like a training kit sponsor, down to digital content or player sponsors – they have something for all budgets.
