Me and My Golf is an online golf coach, educating users via specific programs, along with the world’s most-subscribed golf channel: its same-titled YouTube account.
With over half a million subscribers, plus an average of eight million views a month and a collective social following exceeding one million, it’s no surprise their presence is extending offline too.
What started out as a YouTube channel has spiralled into other exciting ventures. They’re even set to have their own monthly programme shown on the Golf Channel. But, this isn’t actually what they intended for…
The Me and My Golf Story
Director Neil Dawson and his brother Adam both had an engineering background, and looked to create a training aid for golf. Along with professional golfers Andy and Piers, they set up a YouTube channel in 2011 to market the product and generate interest. While they thought they could earn a little money from the channel, it was never their ultimate aim. However, having seen success two months in, they decided to focus on this venture…
It was slow growth, initially, only receiving hundreds of views on their videos. But when Andy and Piers came back from a world golfing tour in 2013, more time was put into the business and within 12-18 months the views had snowballed into thousands.
Resultantly, they’ve worked with some huge brands, travelling and attending events alongside them. Andy and Piers are now coaching as far as Australia – for the Australian PGA Golf Association, no less.
As well as their international exploits, Me and My Golf have other exciting happenings on the horizon, such as an education project aimed at those with minimal golfing experience. Their ambitious plans also involve growing their current team of 10, along with their website subscriptions – from 100,000 to one million members!
Core to this is the power of the Mac. Used for video editing, web development and graphic design, they require the very best quality. But despite the advanced nature of modern tech, there can still be issues. So, when their agent met James at FORE BUSINESS, a golf networking event, Lease Loop proved to be the perfect solution. Here, Neil explains why…
“When we heard what Lease Loop did, we were instantly interested. It wasn’t an issue of cash flow – instead, buying a Mac outright didn’t offer the level of support we required, but Lease Loop did.
Supporting success
“We were impressed from the outset. As a fellow golfer, James understood our business and needs, providing tailored advice. Once we signed the contract, we were delighted to have a delivery the next day.
As our headcount has risen all staff now have leased MacBook Pros and iPads. Lease Loop helped when we had another issue: storage. Editing 4K videos means we can easily go through 30-40 TB a month, resulting in issues with losing data via portable hard drives. But James had a fantastic solution and sourced us a server – Nas Drive.
We’ve also been able to call Lease Loop whenever there’s been a device issue, and even receive a replacement within a few hours. The support has been fantastic since we first started working with them in 2016. As we look to move forward with our ambitious plans, Lease Loop will be core to this.”
